Angel Reese revealed this week that her transition from college to the pros has been smooth because of the way LSU trained on a daily basis.
Reese told CBS Sports that LSU would have intense practices that lasted for about four hours.
“I think my transition has been great,” Reese said. “It hasn’t been a huge surprise because Kim Mulkey kind of prepared me for this moment. At LSU, our practices were intense, lasting about four hours. We were always ready and working hard. I thought training camp was going to be tougher, so I felt really prepared. I haven’t had any major WNBA surprises yet.”
On Thursday morning, LSU assistant coach Gary Redus addressed these comments from Reese. He basically admit that Kim Mulkey will occasionally let practice run for four hours.
However, the LSU women’s basketball team isn’t practicing for several hours each day.
“We don’t practice 4 hours every day,” Redus replied. “But you leave LSU prepared.”
LSU definitely helped Reese prepare for the WNBA. The talented rookie is averaging 12.4 points and 9.6 rebounds per game for the Chicago Sky this season.
On Wednesday night, Reese had a career-high 20 points in a loss to the Connecticut Sun. Additionally, she recorded her fourth consecutive double-double.
