The road back to the top is set…mostly
The defending champs’ path is set, or at least most of it is.
On Friday, LSU released their first official schedule graphic for the 2025 season and updated the schedule page on their website. Gym 101, the free preview event, is scheduled for Monday, December 16th. LSU is scheduled to have five home meets in 2025 beginning with the opener on Friday, January 3rd, against Iowa State. The Tigers will then take the road to the Paycom Center in Oklahoma City to compete in the second annual Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad on Saturday, January 11th. While there’s been no official word on LSU’s opponents in the meet, it’s most likely that LSU will face Oklahoma, Utah and Cal in the meet. ESPN Events confirmed that team pairings would be based on the final rankings from the end of the 2024 season, and those are the three teams who finished closest to the reigning national champs.
The SEC regular season meets will alternate home and away from January 17th until February 21st, opening with Florida, then Arkansas, then Missouri, then Alabama, then Oklahoma, and finally Kentucky in the newly renovated Memorial Coliseum. LSU will then return to Baton Rouge for two weeks. They’ll compete in the third annual Purple and Gold Podium Challenge at the Rasing Cane’s River Center against three unknown opponents on February 28th before returning to the PMAC for senior night on March 7th against Georgia. LSU closes the regular season at Auburn the following Friday.
The SEC Championships are scheduled to be hosted in Birmingham, Alabama, for the first time since 2022. The SEC announced a new format for the SEC Championships back in 2023 that would see it move to a two-day format in which the top seed gets a bye to the final. LSU’s schedule lists the SEC Championships as being a one-day affair on Saturday, March 22nd. According to assistant communications director Alyssa Leal, the SEC has not told them anything about it shifting, though that is subject to change.
Regionals are scheduled for April 2nd-6th on the campuses of Utah, Washington, Penn State and Alabama. Nationals are back at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth and are scheduled for April 17th and April 19th. Hopefully, LSU will be back hoisting their second national championship trophy.
