Lane Kiffin is not afraid to troll other coaches and programs on social media.
On Tuesday morning, the target was LSU head coach Brian Kelly. LSU lost 27-20 to USC in Las Vegas on Sunday night, making them 0-3 in season openers under Kelly.
Following the game, Kelly made headlines for slamming the table during a fiery press conference. In the process, he made his Dasani water bottle pop up in the air.
“The water bottle in mid-air after Brian Kelly slammed his fist on the table really sells this,” said internet personality CJ Fogler on X/Twitter.
In response to another tweet referencing the Dasani bottle, Kiffin dropped a joke at Kelly’s expense.
“Maybe you just need a @CokeZero and a @CoachBrianKelly #LoveCoke,” Kiffin tweeted.
If Kelly’s opening weekend was full of aggravation, Kiffin’s was downright breezy.
His sixth-ranked Rebels cruised to a 76-0 win over Furman, with their offense looking every bit as high-octane as expected.
The next few weeks should provide some more easy wins for Ole Miss before they open SEC play with Kentucky on Sept. 9. The biggest early season test though for the Rebels? Well, that would be Oct. 12 in Baton Rouge against Kelly’s Bayou Bengals.
We’ll see if Kelly took Kiffin’s ribbing personally. Both teams will need that game in order to boost their potential College Football Playoff resumes.
