Tigers finally get a defensive tackle via the portal
Our long national nightmare is over: LSU has finally added a defensive tackle through the portal.
Wednesday evening On3 reported that Jay’Viar Suggs would be transferring to LSU. Suggs spent the past two seasons at Grand Valley State, which of course is where Brian Kelly began his head coaching career. That’s how you build a pipeline!
Suggs is a Michigan native and picked LSU over the in-state Wolverines, Kentucky, and Wisconsin. In two seasons at Grand Valley State, Suggs recorded 42 tackles, 14.5 tackles for a loss, 8 sacks, forced fumbles two and was credited with nine passes defended.
Is Suggs the missing piece that will vault LSU into national championship contender status? Maybe, maybe not. But LSU’s had a dire need at defensive tackle and after missing out on guys like Simeon Barrow and Damonic Williams, it’s nice to see Kelly and his staff finally land one.
