Toviano arrested on video voyeurism charge
Over the weekend LSU sophomore cornerback Javien Toviano turned himself into authorities after being accused of video voyeurism.
According to the arrest warrant filed by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, Toviano, 19, is accused of filming sexual encounters with a woman without her consent. The woman told detectives that Toviano had recorded them previously and she did not want to be recorded.
Toviano admitted to using a hidden camera in an iPad to film the encounters. The woman found the videos that were recorded through a clock that had a built-in camera placed near the bed.
Toviano “has been suspended from all team activities, in accordance with departmental policies,” LSU said in a statement.
“We will not have further comment out of respect for the legal process,” the university said.
Preseason practice for LSU begins on August 1 and Toviano was expected to compete for significant playing time. Toviano played in all 13 games last season as a freshman and started three times. He played both corner and nickel last season and was credited with 31 tackles and one pass breakup.
