Colorad—EAUX???
Former LSU pitcher Jaden Hill got the call up to join the Colorado Rockies Thursday afternoon, and will on the active roster in Atlanta as the Rockies wrap up a series with the Braves.

Hill was taken by Colorado in the second round, 41st overall, in the 2021 MLB Draft. He is the program’s 87th former player to make it to the Major Leagues, and the fourth Tiger to get the call up this year joining Paul Skenes (Pittsburgh), Dylan Crews (Washington), and Hunter Feduccia (Los Angeles Dodgers).
Hill is one of the great recent “what could have beens” in LSU’s history. He only pitched in 13 games over the course of three years; two were ended early because of injury, while the 2020 season was cancelled just as the year was beginning. In his career he was 3-3 with a 4.21 ERA and 53 strikeouts versus 20 walks in 51.1 innings.
Hill’s mainly been working out of the bullpen since being drafted, and this year has made 41 relief appearances across Double-A and Triple-A ball. He’s got a 6-2 record with a 4.57 ERA and seven saves, and is listed as Colorado’s No. 20 prospect.
The Rockies are, once again, awful this season and are one of three teams to already be eliminated from postseason contention. Colorado is dead last in the NL West at 51-89 so it makes sense that Hill is getting an audition for 2025 now with the Rockies playing out the string. Hopefully Hill’s debut is as electric as Skenes’s or Crews’s and he’ll be able to be with the Rockies from day one next spring.
