There are no such things as bad weeks of college football. But this one isn’t great.
Gulf Golesh Shift
- Kentucky-Ole Miss: Finally, Ole Miss plays a quality opponent for the first time this year…kind of. Odds are the Rebels will win, but combined with the Wake Forest game we may actually have a data point to go off of. If you couldn’t tell by this game batting leadoff, it’s a very mid day of college football.
- Oklahoma State-Kansas State: One of the biggest shockers of the past week was Kansas State getting absolutely punked by BYU late Saturday night, slightly ruining one of the at-large dark horses’ bid. Oklahoma State, on the other hand, is one of the most frustrating teams in college football who has Ollie Gordon but refuses to utilize him in favor of Alan Bowman, who was benched at half in last week’s loss to Utah.
- USF-Tulane: Once again, USF played a P5 team well for a half last week before fading hard. Alex Golesh’s team is showing real spunk, but unfortunately they have to play a much better roster again when they play Jon Sumrall’s Green Wave. Is this the week they can finally put together a full four quarters?
- Minnesota-Michigan: Is Michigan going to stand on ceremony and make Alex Orgi actually play quarterback or are they going to just put Minnesota in the garbage disposal?
In a Big Ten Country Shift
- llvll-Notre Dame: I don’t know what to expect. Let’s find out together.
- Colorado-UCF: Look man, I get it. I’m tired of the circus too. But you can’t say Colorado isn’t an entertaining watch and they keep playing mid to bad teams. I don’t think they ca win this but I think they can make it fun.
- Arkansas-Texas A&M: Alright Sam Pittman. Let’s see what else you got in the bag.
- Wisconsin-USC: Wisconsin isn’t as smash mouth as you recall them being, but curious to see if they’ll play the hits after seeing what a better USC team looked like against a physical Michigan team last week.
Chattahoochee Shift
- South Alabama-LSU: Please just…don’t let this game be close at halftime. Let’s square it away before then.
- Georgia-Alabama: I don’t think I need to sell this one.
- Florida State-SMU: Florida State got off the schneide, though they did it in less than convincing manner with an offense that was just as anemic. Thankfully they don’t play an offense that can and will put up poin-oh.
- Ohio State-Michigan State: Buckeyes should win, but Jonathan Smith has the Spartans looking pretty decent to start the season. Worth making sure the body drops.
Robert Kekaula Memorial Shift
- Oregon-UCLA: Did the Bruins start to figure it out offensively or is LSU just that bad on defense? Let’s find out.
- Washington State-Boise: You know what the drill here is. PAC-12 After Dark lives baby.
- Arizona-Utah: Arizona is on the up, but…Utah should walk.
