Sun Belt Billy and Big Game Brian. Who will disappoint more?
Championship Conflict Shift
- Clemson-Pitt: The Panthers technically aren’t eliminated from the ACC race (yet), but they need this game and some help to get there while Clemson is firmly in their winning season following a trip up to llvll a month ago and are in the hunt for an ACC title appearance, keeping their playoff hopes alive.
- Utah-Colorado: Colorado Protocol Activated.
- Tulane-Navy: Speaking of the conference races, this is a defacto elimination game for Navy, who either vaults back into a position to set up an Army-Navy AAC championship with a loss or all but locks up an Army-Tulane matchup with a loss.
- Texas-Arkansas: Texas is a much better team than Arkansas, but something is a lil funny about this game. We don’t like to preemptively call a game a trap, but ask Tennessee about it.
Sun Belt Billy Shift
- LSU-Florida: I don’t think it’ll happen, but the LSU fanbase will never be more toxic than it would be if Brian Kelly loses to Billy Napier.
- Nebraska-USC: Bowl eligibility is on the line for 4-5 USC against Nebraska, who is just looking to snap an ugly three-game skid. Both teams are having a disappointing season, but both are going to be desperate for a win here.
- Missouri-South Carolina: This has potential to be the real big banger of the shift, two boom or bust teams who can go from anywhere from looking unbeatable to also-rans.
- Baylor-West Virginia: Don’t look now, but Dave Aranda has flipped a three-game losing streak started by the unprobable Colorado comeback into a three-game winning streak to seemingly save his job.
Water Wars Shift
- Tennessee-Georgia: It sounds wild to say because both teams combine for just three losses, but a lot of anxiety to be found here, especially on offense. The Volunteers’ offense has been sputtering behind freshman Nico Iamaleava and the Bulldogs are desperately missing the easy button of Brock Bowers and Ladd McConkey, making Carson Beck look pedestrian.
- Arizona State-Kansas State: Both teams have kind of been forgotten about, but in the wide open Big 12, either team can not only make the championship game, but also the playoff and be a team nobody wants to face. Especially garbage disposal Kansas State who owns a victory over Colorado.
- Oregon-Wisconsin: Similar to Texas at Arkansas, Oregon should hold a decided advantage, but let’s watch the body drop first to confirm.
- Cincinnati-Iowa State: Iowa State is still alive in the Big 12 race, but they need to win and get some help to make it happen. On the other side of the field, Scott Satterfield is going to have to justify the move from llvll to Cincy eventually.
Robert Kekaula Memorial Shift
- San Diego State-UNLV: In this house, we stan the Go-Go Offense and will stay up to watch it.
- Kansas-BYU: Don’t look now but…Kansas has quietly turned it around? It’s too late to really salvage a bowl out of this season, but damn if they’re not trying. Couple that with BYU having a few too close shaves for comfort and we may have a reason to stay up for the nightcap.
- Washington State-New Mexico: It’s football.
