LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier and defensive end Bradyn Swinson were both recognized by the SEC for their efforts in the Tigers’ 34-17 win over UCLA this past Saturday.
Nussmeier was named the SEC’s Offensive Player of the Week, while Swinson was the league’s Defensive Lineman of the Week.
Nuss completed 32 passes for 352 yards and threw three touchdown passes. He also engineered consecutive 90-yard touchdown drives in the second half to help LSU pull away from the Bruins.
Through four games, Nussmeier has completed 113 passes, which leads the country, and his 13 touchdown passes ranks second in the nation.
Swinson has been a force this season for LSU with five sacks, all coming over the past two games. Swinson was responsible for one of LSU’s five sacks against the Bruins, and for the year he has five sacks. This is the second time Swinson has been honored by the SEC, he was named the league’s defensive player of the week after his four-sack game against South Carolina.
