Last game of the year Brent, can’t hold anything back now!
For one last time in 2024…
GEAUX!!!
Oh right there’s still a bowl game to be played.
Bowls don’t really mean as much these days. If you’re not in the College Football Playoff your bowl game is a glorified scrimmage and the roster LSU’s fielding is gonna look a hell of a lot different than it did in week one.
Will Campbell won’t be playing today. Neither will Emery Jones, Kyren Lacy, or Mason Taylor. Baylor, led by former LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda, doesn’t have nearly as many defectors. The Bears have only lost two players to the transfer portal and as far as I can tell, none of their players are opting out in order to prepare for the upcoming NFL Draft. As such, Baylor enters the Texas Bowl as a 3.5 point favorite. Is that fair? Sure. Will it play out that way? Who knows!
Here’s what I do know. LSU’s coming into today’s game missing three of its top four wide receivers, and *four starters along the offensive line. Maybe young guys like Weston Davis and Tyree Adams had great bowl practices, but we’ve yet to see them do it in a game situation and because of that I can’t in good conscience pick LSU. Be happy with a win if it happens, but don’t let a loss have any bearing on the 2025 season. Just try and enjoy this last game of the season because August 30 is a long ways away.
*Note: Miles Frazier IS playing, but getting the start at right tackle. So yes technically LSU is missing four starters
Final score prediction: Baylor 31, LSU 23
