Suffice to say, this month of September has been kind of rough for LSU.
The Tigers lost their fifth straight season opener to USC, didn’t exactly inspire confidence in the home opener against a vastly inferior Nicholls, dodged a bullet in the SEC opener against South Carolina, and was in a fight with UCLA for the whole first half. Oh, and if all that wasn’t enough they lost John Emery, Jacobian Guillory, and Harold Perkins for the year.
I’m not saying LSU should be on upset alert against South Alabama…but they shouldn’t sleepwalk this one either. We’ve seen LSU lose to the Sunbelt before—hell James Madison hung 70 on North Carolina just last week— and the Jags are averaging 48 points a game; and nobody’s going to confuse this LSU defense with the 2003 squad.
Is LSU going to win this game tonight? Yeah, probably. But with a bye week up next and a home date with Ole Miss on the horizon don’t be surprised if South makes LSU work to earn this one.
Final Score: LSU 38, South Alabama 20
