Crews Missiles are coming to D.C.
The Dylan Crews era is upon us.
Crews, the greatest baseball player in LSU’s storied history, is reportedly getting the call up to join the Washington Nationals. Crews will join the Nats Monday night in D.C. as the club opens up a three-game series with the New York Yankees.
Crews was taken second overall by the Nationals in last summer’s MLB Draft, just behind his former LSU teammate Paul Skenes. Crews won the 2023 Golden Spikes Award and hasn’t missed a beat against minor league competition.
In June Crews was promoted to Washington’s Triple-A affiliate, the Rochester Red Wings, and across all minor league levels this season he has 107 hits, 13 homers, has scored 60 runs and stolen 25 bases. Crews also partook in the MLB Futures Game in Arlington during the MLB All-Star Weekend. He is Washington’s No. 1 overall prospect in their farm system and the No. 3 overall prospect in all of baseball.
Washington is currently playing out the last couple weeks of the season so who knows how long Crews will spend with the Nationals. The Nationals are currently fourth in the NL East at 58-70 and are 10.5 games out of the Wild Card race. But hopefully Crews will get a couple of weeks at the MLB level because the Nationals have a four-game series against Skenes and the Pirates scheduled for September 5 through 9 and I need Skenes pitching against Crews like I need air.
