Tigers snag a three-star DT out of Texas
LSU got a pleasant surprise on the recruiting front Monday afternoon as three-star defensive tackle Dilan Battle out of Arlington, Texas announced his commitment to LSU.
Listed at 6’3” and 300 pounds, Battle is a three-star prospect but has some pretty good offers for “just” a three-star. Per his On3 profile, Battle has offers from Alabama, Oregon, Michigan, Texas, and Oklahoma among others. It looks like the programs most heavily linked to Battle were TCU and SMU which makes sense considering the distance between Arlington and the DFW area.
Battle has been on Bo Davis’s radar since Davis was coaching the defensive line at Texas. That interest carried over to LSU and now Battle seems intent on following Davis to Baton Rouge.
“He told me I am a great player they he really wants to come here,” Battle said to On3. “I have a great chance to come in and play right away, but he also told me what I need to work on.”
Battle gives LSU 22 total commitments for the 2025 recruiting class and three defensive tackles. Battle joins Zion Williams and Brandon Brown. LSU is also a sudden favorite to land three-star defensive tackle Walter Mathis out of Georgia. Mathis is reportedly choosing between LSU, Auburn, Clemson, and Miami.
