Tigers get a key piece of Louisiana’s 2026 class to stay home
Early Thursday morning LSU got really good news along the recruiting front as four-star offensive tackle Brysten Martinez verbally committed to the Tigers.
The four-star tackle from East Ascension picked LSU over the likes of Alabama, Texas A&M, Oregon, Tennessee, Penn State, and Georgia among others. Per the On3 composite rankings, Martinez is the No. 59 overall player in the country, No. 8 tackle, and No. 5 player in what is shaping up to be really deep and really talented class, even by Louisiana’s lofty standards.
Every now and then, the state of Louisiana has a ridiculously talented high school class and 2026 is looking like it will be one of those elite years. As mentioned above, Martinez is a top-60 player in the entire country and yet is “only” the No. 5 player inside his home state.
Louisiana currently has six players ranked in the top-83 per On3’s composite rankings. The class of 2026 is highlighted by five-stars Lamar Brown, an interior offensive linemen at U-High, and Blaine Bradford, a safety at Catholic. New Orleans powerhouse Edna Karr has two top-40 prospects/LSU commits: Richard Anderson (DT) and Aiden Hall (S), while Destrehan has four-star wide receiver Jabari Mack (No. 83 overall, No. 6 in LA).
With Anderson, Hall, and Martinez all in tow, LSU has half of those six elite prospects committed and are favored to sign the other three. There’s still 10 months to go until December’s Early Signing Period, but if this core holds LSU could have the type of class that could potentially win a national championship down the road.
