Apparently there’s a big game in town this week
After having last week off from both football and media availabilities, LSU head coach Brian Kelly once again met with the media as the Alabama game looms.
Kelly opened his presser recounting how his team spent their bye week.
“Recover but work on those things that we needed to get better at from the A&M game. I think they’re pretty obvious in terms of our ability to have balance on offense, the quarterback running game, special teams, consistency in that area.”
Kelly said that last week “wasn’t a fun week to be around” when it came to reviewing the tape of the A&M game and trying to clean up the mistakes but “we’ve put that past us.”
Kelly praised Alabama’s balance, specifically in regards to their talent across the roster. “Apparently no weaknesses in my eyes relative to their talent level,” he said. Kelly also said he doesn’t see any weaknesses in Alabama’s roster.
Kelly laid out what he thought would be vital for his team to do in order to beat Alabama.
“The keys to success are pretty obvious: from an offensive standpoint taking care of the football, “Kelly said. “We’ll have to have better balance offensively and that will be a prerequisite. Defensively, stopping the quarterback is going to be paramount.
“We’re up for the challenge, we’re excited about it. Playing at Tiger Stadium has been good medicine for us, now we’ve gotta go out and execute and play LSU football for four quarters.”
Kelly was also asked about the LSU offense, specifically with the struggles the unit had in the A&M game and getting out of balance.
“We’ve got to be more consistent across the board,” Kelly said. “Creating a little bit more uncertainty in terms of what we are doing, and making sure we can get the ball to the playmakers, but be able to include that in a variety of different ways. Include the screen game and misdirection and the running game, and create a little more uncertainty in terms of what we’re doing offensively and I think you’ll see that as we continue to move forward.”
