I’m really starting to hate the Saints
LSU got bad news Thursday morning as Luke Johnson of the New Orleans TImes Picayune reported that Bo Davis was being hired by the New Orleans Saints to be the defensive line coach.
The #Saints are expected to hire Bo Davis to be their defensive line coach, according to a league source, adding another coach from the college ranks.
Davis most recently worked as the DL coach at LSU and is considered one of the NCAA’s better DL coaches.

There’s no other way around it: this sucks for LSU. Brian Kelly moved heaven and Earth to get Davis back at LSU, his alma mater, and made him the highest-paid defensive line coach in college football. He was due to make $1.35 million this season and $1.45 million next year, and all that work done by Kelly yielded one (1) season of Bo Davis.
It’s a great hire by the Saints, but a huge blow to LSU. Davis is regarded as one of the best defensive line coaches in the game and whoever Brian Kelly gets to replace him will almost certainly be a downgrade. It’s also a big hit in the recruiting game because Davis is just as good, if not better, of a recruiter than he is a position coach.
Davis has prior experience coaching NFL defensive lines. He coached the Detroit Lions line from 2018 through 2020 before returning to the college game at Texas.
