Game on the line, who’s getting the ball?
Well we’re officially a fortnight away from the 2024 season beginning. Let’s talk shop.
It’s no secret LSU lost a ton of play making from last year’s offense. No Nabers, no BTJ, no That Kid Jayden scrambles. So let’s say you’re Joe Sloan and Cortez Hankton. It’s 4th and 3 and you gotta have this conversion who are you leaning on to get 4 yards to keep the chains moving?
Max
There are still a ton of options, Kyren Lacy is already a great receiver at this level, CJ Daniels is really good as well, but Garrett Nussmeier loves Mason Taylor so he’s getting the ball here.
Poseur
Oh, God, I’m about to become Max and hype up a tight end. But the answer in that scenario is clearly Mason Taylor. He’s not going to be our biggest playmaker, but he is the guy with the most reliable hands, and the guy I want getting the ball on fourth and three.
Ben
Brian Kelly’s still the head coach? Mason Taylor, obviously.
Saul
Consensus could be a drag/slant to a receiver, but how about a TE focused route that utilizes Mason Taylor paired with a RB in the flat just in case. Let Nuss Buss cook!
Dee
Mason Taylor is all but a lock for that crucial moment. He proved he could handle the enormous mental and physical pressure in 2022, and he’s stayed consistent since then in big moments.
Kyle
After the game-winning 2-point against Alabama, how could you go to anyone other than Mason Taylor is crucial moments?
Zach
Very disappointed in these dang kids above me. What happened to three yards and a cloud of dust? What happened to lining up five 6-foot tall, 300-pound MEN punching their opposition square in the mouth? Them doing the dirty work to open up a lane just big enough for an undersized former walk on running back who has more DAWG in him than maybe any other LSU athlete ever? Give me Josh Williams running behind Campbell-Dellinger-Turner-Frazier-Jones or give me D E A T H.
Evan
Would it be too bold of me to predict this is the year John Emery finally puts it all together? Just kidding, I’m going with the other sixth-year senior running back: Josh Williams. When the game is on the line you gotta go to the guy who scores highest on the DAWG meter.
