Lucky No. 7
For the second year in a row, an LSU Tiger was picked seventh overall in the WNBA Draft.
Last year it was Angel Reese going 7th to Chicago, and on Monday night Aneesah Morrow was picked in the same slot by the Connecticut Sun in the first round of the 2025 WNBA Draft.

It’s the first time LSU’s produced back-to-back first round draft picks since Temeka Johnson went sixth overall in the 2005 draft and Seimone Augustus and Scholanda Robinson were picked first and 14th respectively in 2006. Morrow is now the sixth Tiger drafted in the Kim Mulkey.
Morrow had one of the most stellar individual careers in women’s basketball history. She finished 25th all-time in scoring with 2,852 points, and third in rebounds with 1,714. Her 102 double-doubles is the second-most all-time and Morrow earned All-American honors in all four of her collegiate seasons.
Morrow recently won the Kaitlin McClain Award, given out annually to the nation’s best power forward and she’s already had success in her new home arena. The last time Morrow played at the Mohegan Sun Arena, she had 24 points, 19 rebounds, and three steals in LSU’s win over Seton Hall this past season at the Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase.
In somewhat related LSU women’s basketball news, one-time Tiger Hailey Van Lith was also drafted into the WNBA going 11th overall to the Chicago Sky. That selection reunites Van Lith with Angel Reese, and the two will make a return to the PMAC May 2nd when the Sky have an exhibition against the Brazilian National Team.
