Does Jayden Daniels go 2 or 3? Can Malik Nabers overtake Marvin Harrison Jr.? How high will Brian Thomas go?
Late April is always one of the best times of year on the sports calendar: you’ve got the NBA and NHL playoffs, baseball at the pro and college level is underway, but all those things end up getting dwarfed by the NFL.
The NFL Draft kicks off tonight in Detroit. Last year’s draft was a down year from an LSU perspective, but this year the program will be well represented.
The trio of Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers, and Brian Thomas Jr. are all expected to go in the first round, and all three players will be in Detroit when their names are called.
Caleb Williams is almost definitely going to go first overall to the Chicago Bears, so the question for Jayden will be does he go second overall to Washington, or third to New England? Or could a team like the Vikings or Raiders trade up and try to land the Heisman winner?
Coming into this past season, Ohio State’s Marvin Harrison Jr. seemed to be the surefire No. 1 wide receiver in this draft. But lately it’s been Nabers, not Harrison, that is being thought of as the best receiver in the class. Regardless of how it plays out, Nabers should hear his name called within the first 10 picks.
Brian Thomas will probably be the last of the three Tigers taken, but he’ll still go in the first round. The only question will be who takes him.
The trio of 5/8/11 aren’t the only Tigers hoping to hear their names called this weekend however. Mekhi Wingo and Maason Smith could be Day 2 picks, and there’s a chance Charles Turner and Jordan Jefferson get picked on Day 3.
