Keep those fingers crossed
The Early Signing Period for the college football landscape kicks off Wednesday and there’s a lot of uneasiness surrounding LSU’s once shining 2024 signing class.
Bryce Underwood, of course, flipped to Michigan. Yesterday LSU lost another five-star prospect when corner back Kade Phillips flipped to Texas. Phillips originally committed to Texas before flipping to LSU in the summer. He was a four-star when he flipped to LSU but has climbed all the way up to five-star status, landing as the No. 4 corner in the country. Phillips supposedly shut down his recruitment and told recruiting services mere days ago he was set to sign with LSU, but that all went up in smoke when, I’m assuming, Texas outbid LSU’s offer.
There’s also worrying signs about LSU’s other five-star corner, DJ Pickett. Pickett has apparently taken off all LSU tags and pictures from his Instagram, and Pickett’s dad tweeted something cryptic around noon.
This is DJ Pickett’s father. It may not be looking too good for #LSU. https://t.co/VvuBZy6Gy5

Does it mean anything? Hell I don’t know, but if we’re learning anything these past few weeks: no matter how firm a commitment is, it doesn’t mean anything until a kid signs.
We’re also going to keep an eye out for five-star defensive tackle Jahkeem Stewart, a New Orleans native that is playing things close to the chest. Stewart is reportedly down to LSU, Ohio State, Oregon, and USC, but the professional crootin people say it’s down to LSU and the Trojans. They’re also predicting Stewart to pick USC, but who knows maybe between the time I wrote this Tuesday night and Wednesday morning LSU found a couple extra bucks to throw his way.
Another name worth keeping an eye on who might flip to LSU is five-star offensive lineman Solomon Thomas out of the state of Florida. Thomas has been committed to Florida State for a while now, but the Noles recently fired their offensive line coach and apparently Brad Davis has pounced. We saw Davis flip Weston Davis from Texas A&M last year, could he make it two big flips in a row?
