#9 Tennessee vs. #8 Ohio State, 7:00 P.M., ABC/ESPN (winner plays #1 Oregon)
The new-look CFP kicks off Friday night in South Bend as Indiana travels to take on Notre Dame. Saturday is going to be a college football extravaganza the likes we’ve never seen before as we’ll have SMU taking on Penn State, Clemson heading to Texas, and Tennessee invading Ohio State.
I’m probably not alone in saying I’m pulling for Indiana to take down Notre Dame…but I’m not sure that ends up happening; and while I’d love to see Big Game James Franklin fall flat on his face (again) I’m not sure SMU has the horses—get it???—to pull the road upset.
While I’m not expecting an upset in Austin, are we SURE Texas is good? The Longhorns don’t really have a quality win on the ole résumé, and the two times they’ve played someone equally as talented as them, Georgia, they lost both.
But the Saturday nightcap? Man. The vibes around Ohio State are awful right now and Ryan Day might not make it out of the stadium if they lose this one. For his own healthy and safety I hope Ohio State wins but I’m picking Tennessee.
